Your nervous system is the “power house” of your body. Nerve impulses flow from the brain, down the spinal cord where nerves then branch off to every organ and tissue. Impulses sent back to the brain confirm that the body is functioning normally. However if there is a blockage along the way, the message cannot get thru, which can stop the immune system (Along with many other things) from functioning properly. (When your immune system is functioning as it is suppose to it protects you from outside elements, such as dust, pollen, pollution etc.)
If your immune system isn’t working properly due to blockages in the nerves, you may suffer from an allergic reaction such as:
Watering eyes (asthma)
More serious reactions include:
Constricted air passageways
How Chiropractic Helps
Chiropractic care doesn’t treat allergies. So, why do so many people with allergies mention that they get relief by receiving Chiropractic care?
If everyone reacted to these common substances, we could blame the substance it self, but not everyone reacts…
If your nervous system isn’t working correctly, your body doesn’t work correctly.
Therefore when you come in to contact with a substance that causes you to have an allergic reaction and your nervous system isn’t functioning correctly, it causes your body to react inappropriately to the allergen. Rather than your immune, respiratory and glandular systems helping you to respond and adapt to the allergens.
To treat the cause of the allergic reaction, chiropractors focus on removing the disturbances in the nervous system. Which restores optimum nervous system function, resulting in helping the body’s ability to adapt to the allergens.
Exactly that’s all they do, dry out the membranes and suppress the symptom. They do not treat the underlying cause.
Patients under regular Chiropractic care find that they have fewer cold and flu episodes. Also, they have been shown to be sick less often than the average person.
